Where did the summer go?! While the prospect of going back to school may not be the most exciting thing in the world, fear not – the Woodsworth College Students’ Association has a great year in store for all of you!
Although the beginning of August was not particularly busy for myself and much of the association, the past couple of weeks have ramped up significantly. First and foremost – FROSH is coming up in just about two weeks time! Get psyched! Your amazing Orientation Management Committee has been working tirelessly to bring you the best Woodsworth College Frosh Week to date, finalizing the details for all of our classic events and even a couple of new ones. Froshees – shoot an email to frosh@woodsworthfrosh if you have any questions regarding the week, or check out woodsworthfrosh.com. And upper years – if you’re not involved in Frosh as a leader, not to worry! Stay tuned for more details coming shortly about how you can participate in various parts of the week!
Aside from Frosh, I myself have held a few meetings with two of the committees that I, as the President of the association, chair for the year: the Elections and Referenda Committee and the Policy Review Committee. All of these meetings have been productive- the ERC has looked into the possibility and feasibility of holding a referendum for a student fee increase during the year, in order to have the flexibility to plan even more initiatives, as well as planning out our by-elections coming up in the next month. Meanwhile, the PRC has been reviewing our existing hiring policy as well as investigating the creation of a few new policies. For information on all of this, please have a look at the documents and meeting minutes attached to the August board package.
Other than that, I have just been having regular meetings with members of staff within the college as well as with the rest of WCSA. As I said before, we have an exciting year for you, Woodsworth – with classic events and initiatives, as well as fresh new ideas, I believe I can speak on behalf of the entire association and say that we are beyond excited to provide you with programming for the upcoming year!
